Singapore is not only a valuable consumer for durian fruit, paying a significant premium compared to within Malaysia, but it is also home to the world’s largest export trading port.
 

The ability to reach Singapore from the plantations in Johor within hours means that durian fruit production can be exported quickly to China, Hong Kong, Taiwan (China) and elsewhere. This ensures freshness, higher quality and also the ability to charge a premium compared to other plantations located farther away such as Penang.
